The ancient Peruvians worked the metals masterfully. The procedure “CIRE PERDUE” (lost wax), known in the East and disappeared in the West until the time of the Renaissance, was the most used by these magnificent Peruvian goldsmiths.
Our excursion to the GOLD MUSEUM OF PERU allows you to appreciate a dazzling collection of gold pieces from various pre-Columbian cultures, some more than 3,000 years old. Exhibited objects and jewellery of incalculable value, worked in gold, silver and precious stones, highlighting the ornaments and objects that in their time of splendor used the Incas, sons of the Sun God and monarchs of the vast Inca Empire. The fame of the gold of Peru attracted numerous European adventurers 500 years ago and was cause of the end of the empire of the Incas, giving origin to the Viceroyalty of Peru of the Spanish Crown.
The Gold Museum of Peru also exhibits a valuable collection of ancient and modern weapons that are considered one of the best of its kind worldwide. These rooms display armour, uniforms and objects from various times and places, some even dating from 1,300 years B.C. This exhibition is known as the World Weapons Museum.
