Itinerary

DAY 1PUNO - UROS ISLAND - AMANTANÍ

We will pick you up at your hotel to go to the main port of the city of Puno, embark and start a navigation on Lake Titicaca. Our first stop will be an island of Uros, culture of more than 3000 years that builds its houses in the middle of the lake, thanks to the use of the totora. We’ll learn how they build their homes and learn more about their way of life. If there is time, we can make a boat trip in totora raft, after which we will continue our trip to the island Amantaní, where some of its inhabitants will receive us and accompany us for lunch made with local products.

During the afternoon, we can walk to the top of the island, which is at 4130 m altitude, from where you have an unbeatable sunset perspective on Lake Titicaca. Then we will return to our assigned place of accommodation in a local homestay.

DAY 2AMANTANÍ - TAQUILE - PUNO

We will get up early to have breakfast and say goodbye to Amantaní, to go to the island of Taquile that in colonial times was used as a prison. In that place we will be able to share with the inhabitants, who will present us their textile crafts. Also, we can tour part of the island, visiting some non-tourist areas where there are temples, tombs and terraces of the pre-Inca era. As we move forward, our guide will explain the traditional ways of cultivation and some ancestral customs that are maintained to this day. Then, we will go down to the port to take our boat and start the return trip to Puno.

*If you arrive a few hours before the start of the tour to the Terminal Terrestre de Puno, we can pick you up at the arrival time of your bus and take you to the local agency so you can wait more comfortably and warmly until the start of the tour

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Uros, Amantani, and Taquile islands in Peru. The experience was truly unique and unforgettable.

All in all, my experience visiting these islands was one of the most memorable and rewarding experiences of my trip. The people were friendly and hospitable, the scenery was breathtaking, and the culture was fascinating.
